SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
THE KRISTIAN SHARPE HOFFMANN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE is pleased to present the following scholarships for 2010. The scholarship by Keith and Shirley Sharpe goes to WHITNEY LYNN JOHNSON. Whitney is the daughter of Jeff and Tracy Johnson and the granddaughter of Helen Bright. She will be entering her second year at UNC-Greensboro with a major in Religious Studies. She finished her freshman year with a GPA of 3.98 and was on the Dean’s List and Chancellor’s List. All of us have watched Whitney grow up to be the fine young lady that she is. I had her in Sunday School and respect the Christian upbringing that she has through her parents and grandparents. Whitney shows her love for God through her mission work and the life she lives. Whitney, congratulations and we wish you the best.
THE SCHOLARSHIP BY WES AND CATHY ELINGBURG goes to LEE CRAVEN SALEVAN. Lee is the son of Jay and Patti Salevan, grandson of the late L.C. and Peggy Wood, great nephew of Frank and Verna Harris, and great nephew of the late Wilbur and Louise Brown. Lee just graduated from UNC-Wilmington, College of Arts and Sciences with a major in music and he was always on the Dean’s List. He has been very active in Christian Ministry serving as Leader of the Campus Crusade Praise Band and also as Leader of the Campus Crusade Bible Study. Lee plans to attend New York University to pursue a Master’s degree in Music Technology. He states, “A large part of moving the Gospel through the world depends on keeping it relevant in the culture we live in. Christian music has always played a large part in doing this. I believe a strong way to reach people is producing music and film that presents the Gospel in a related way.” Congratulations, Lee, and we wish you God’s Blessings.
