On Sunday, June 6th, Mt. Hermon honored its graduates on “Graduate Recognition Sunday.” Each graduate wore his/her graduation cap & gown during the service. Our graduates that were present and honored are as follows:
HIGH SCHOOL
BRANDY LYNN VINSON-TEETER, daughter of Lisa Teeter, graduated from Southern High School. During her time at Southern, Brandy ran Track for 3 years, was on the Student Council for 3 years, and played the drums in the Marching Band since 7th grade. Brandy has enlisted into the Marines. When her departure date comes, she will go to Paris Island for 3 months for Basic Training and will then go wherever her country needs her.
COLLEGE
TARA WOOD, daughter of Henry and Tereasa Wood, graduated from Guilford College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Community and Justice Studies and a minor in Education. Tara attended school for 8 ½ years earning a degree while working full-time at Eastlawn Elementary School in Burlington and while raising two children. Her job at Eastlawn has led her to obtain a degree in an area that will allow her to work with and encourage at-risk youth. She hopes to find a position in the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Dept. and pursue a career there. Tara is currently looking for opportunities available in our court system and would appreciate any help she can getachieving this goal. Tara also begins another journey this summer when she re-marries on August 14, 2010. She is looking forward to a lifetime with Brandon - the love of her life - and her two boys, Chase & Chandler.
LARRY TINGEN, JR., graduated from UNC-Wilmington in Dec. 2009 with a Masters of Science degree in Mathematics. Larry has worked at Cape Fear Community College as a Math Instructor since August 2009 and is hoping to obtain a permanent full-time position starting in August 2010.
If you know of anyone else in our Mt. Hermon family who has graduated and would like it mentioned in the next newsletter, please let Janna Shelton know (336-227-4036).
